Topic title: Floundering newbie seeks all the help she can get with restoration
Take a deep breath, think about all the reasons you fell in love with this project and go for it. It doesn't matter if it takes weeks, months or years if you enjoy yourself doing it up. I have recently finished an old house I started 5 or 6 years ago now, doing a bit here and there as and when I could when life got in the way. Stripping it back to basics, even dismantling bits if it is going to help, is a really good way to start, and by doing that you will begin see your way forwards, and let your imagination run wild. Nothing is impossible, and there is always help and advice if needed on this website . Have fun!

I'm so excited to have won this. Loved it as soon as I saw it. It is to go in my Woodworker Swiss villa. I have a lovely empty bed room just waiting, already decorated in its original pink and green wallpaper.

The top sections are 1 inch/2.5 cms high they are fashioned into 2 octagonal sections joined as in a figure eight by one of the sides on each chimney. Hope this helps
