I find "The Ambassadors" painting very interesting from many standpoints; the science involved in the objects on the top level of the table, the symbolism of how widely these men must have travelled and the breadth of their all-round interests on the lower level, along with the inevitable memento mori of the very famous distorted scull shape on the floor, which can be seen for what it is as you walk quite closely by it.
This being the imagined year of 1616, both these gents have now passed away and a somewhat grotesquely perhaps, I've added a couple of skulls to the side table top, representing their continued presence. I've also added a skull on the floor for the paintings distorted one and sat a large raven upon its top. Going the whole 'evermore' wanring there!
The carpet I extrapolated from the pattern in the portrait as best as I could and a couple or so of the scientific instruments are homemade, along with the music etc. The lute was bought in.
