The inspiration for these came from someone else. I bought a unit & a chair & the seller apologised for the delay in sending them & said she would add some gifts in compensation. One of the gifts was a book & the inside was a foam pad used in card making. I thought the pad was too small to be convincing as pages but it gave me an idea.
I used to make cards, still do occasionally, & I had a roll of foam double sided tape in my stash. I also had a sheet of book covers bought on our favourite site.
Cut out your covers, score the spine with something not too sharp, a ball point tool used in paper flower making or a cocktail stick. I use an old meat fork which has one tine longer than the other now. Don’t press too hard or you will go straight through.
Fold down one side of the spine, then flatten again & fold down the other side of the spine. Fold both so you have a book shape.
Cut a piece of foam tape just about 1/16th of an inch [1.5 mm] shorter than your book is tall, if the tape is wider than the depth of your book trim the back edge. Peel the backing off one side & stick down to the inside cover & then repeat for the other side being careful to line up the front & bottom edges of the book.
